  • The opportunity and what makes Community Integrated Care a great place to work

  • Are you an experienced health or clinical leader who wants to shape practice, improve outcomes and influence care across a national charity?

Community Integrated Care is looking for a Head of Health Practice to provide strategic and operational leadership across our health and clinical functions in England and Scotland. Reporting to the Director of Quality and Impact, you will lead multidisciplinary teams and help us deliver safe, personalised and evidence-based support that improves quality of life, reduces health inequalities and enables people to live fulfilled lives.

    This senior role offers:

    • A salary of £64,000 to £67,000 plus £5,000 car allowance
    • A four-day working week, with 37.5 contracted hours
    • Infrequent national travel across England and Scotland
    • The opportunity to lead health strategy, clinical governance and practice improvement across England and Scotland
    • The chance to influence organisational strategy, senior decision-making and the development of innovative models of support
    • A national platform from which to build partnerships, influence sector practice and champion the voices of people with lived experience
You will join an organisation committed to delivering excellent, person-centred support and ensuring that the people we support have greater choice, voice and involvement in decisions affecting their lives.
  • Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:

  • The people we support may have learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, acquired brain injuries or complex health and care requirements. Your leadership will help ensure they receive coordinated, accessible and high-quality support that reflects their individual needs and aspirations.

As Head of Health Practice, you will shape and deliver our organisational health strategy, clinical model and governance framework. You will turn research, clinical insight, policy and operational learning into practical improvements that can be embedded across services.

    Your key priorities will include:

    • Providing expert health and clinical advice to the Director of Quality and Impact, Executive Team and Board
    • Leading our health and clinical governance approach across England and Scotland
    • Strengthening clinical risk management, assurance, audit and quality improvement
    • Ensuring practice meets relevant statutory, regulatory and professional standards, including applicable HCPC, NMC, CQC and Care Inspectorate requirements
    • Leading the development of evidence-based approaches, including Positive Behaviour Support and Trauma-Informed Care
    • Overseeing specialist clinical practice and supporting teams with complex health, behavioural and clinical needs
    • Translating learning from incidents, safeguarding reviews, investigations and thematic reviews into measurable improvements
    • Championing accessible communication, health equality, inclusion and meaningful co-production
    • Developing multidisciplinary and multi-agency relationships across health, social care and community partnerships
    • Building workforce capability through professional leadership, supervision, learning and practice development
    • Using data, audit findings and feedback to evaluate impact and improve outcomes
    • Representing Community Integrated Care through relevant partnerships, professional networks and sector forums
You will lead and develop your teams, set clear expectations and create the conditions for colleagues to perform at their best. You will also work closely with operational leaders, business development, learning and development, people services and other specialists to ensure health expertise informs service design and delivery.

Success will mean stronger clinical governance, consistent evidence-based practice and clear organisational assurance. Most importantly, it will mean safer support, reduced health inequalities and better outcomes for the people who draw on our services.

  • About you:

  • You will be a credible and inclusive leader who can combine professional health expertise with strategic thinking, sound judgement and the ability to turn complex evidence into practical action.

    Essential experience and knowledge

    You will bring:

    • Current registration with an appropriate statutory health regulator
    • A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a health, clinical, therapy or care-related discipline
    • Substantial senior-level experience within health, social care, community care or an integrated care environment
    • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding, risk management, audit, assurance and regulatory requirements
    • Experience of leading quality improvement, service development, transformation or practice improvement
    • An understanding of the needs and service pathways relevant to people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, acquired brain injuries or complex care requirements
    • Experience of working across professional, organisational and agency boundaries
    • The ability to interpret research, guidance, performance information and audit findings and use these to improve practice
    • Experience of engaging effectively with senior leaders, regulators, commissioners, professional bodies and external partners
    • An ongoing commitment to continuing professional development and reflective practice
You will also be able to build strategic partnerships, lead across complex systems and communicate clinical and strategic information clearly to a wide range of audiences. You will be comfortable delivering complex projects, supporting geographically dispersed teams through digital tools and developing meaningful ways to evaluate outcomes and impact.

Just as importantly, you will be compassionate, collaborative and person-centred. You will act with integrity, remain effective through change and ensure the voices of people with lived experience remain central to the development and evaluation of our services.
