Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:

We are currently recruiting for a temporary full-time Support Worker for 37.5 hours per week to cover a period of maternity leave.  This will initially be for a period of 12 months, however, if permanent hours become available during this time, the role may become permanent. 

Our ideal candidate will be caring, enthusiastic and self-motivated and able to work well in our small team based in Scrabster, Thurso on the beautiful coast of Caithness.

In this role you will be supporting a gentleman with health and learning difficulties to live independently in his own home and work with a tailored care and support plan to meet his individual needs.

Due to this individual’s unique needs, we are looking for people who are energetic and physically active and enjoy the outdoors and a variety of activities including swimming, walking, attending day centre and going to the cinema. It is also important to him to spend time with close family. 

The role involves a varying shift pattern including waking nights and flexibility to include weekends.  The hours of work will be between 8am -10.30pm during the day (often 2:1 support) and nights are 1:1 support. 

You will provide support in all aspects of daily living including personal care, meal preparation and medication. Previous experience of autism and learning disabilities would be an advantage.  If you don't already have experience, you will receive training in Learning Disability Awareness, Autism Awareness, Visual and Auditory impairment, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Moving and Handling and Sensory Awareness. 

A UK driving license is essential for this role.
